Get Ready to Scream: Unleash Your Inner Thrill-Seeker with Halloween Horror Nights Tickets

The air is thick with anticipation as darkness descends upon the world and the veil between the living and the dead grows thin. Halloween Horror Nights, the spine-tingling festival of fear and adrenaline, is just around the corner, and the time has come to secure your tickets for an experience like no other! Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios has been a fan favorite for over 30 years; however, with the growing popularity of the event, ticket options seem to frighteningly change quite a bit from year to year. You don’t want to be caught by surprise at the gates of the event, so here’s a breakdown of the current (or previous years if currently unannounced) ticketing options and which ones might be best for you!

Update: All ticketing options have been announced and updated for the 2023 season!

Event dates // Sept 1 - Nov 4

Universal Orlando has announced that the 2023 season of Halloween Horror Nights will be the longest yet with 48 nights total, stretching from September 1 thru November 4!

Single Night Tickets: Anywhere from $79.99 + Tax - $119.99 + Tax

The only time we would recommend a single night ticket is for those who are either visiting for only one night or who have never been to the event and are worried that it might be too intense for them. However, for first time guests, we still strongly urge you to consider a seasonal pass considering that this event is much more than just a scare event, and it includes many other offerings to enjoy from themed holiday food to comedic entertainment. Ticket prices vary from day to day. Weekends are the most expensive, and typically the earlier in the event you can go, the less you’ll spend.

Rush of Fear: $179.99 + Tax

This Pass includes 18 event days. Those 18 event days occur during all of September. Unfortunately, Rush of Fear does not include the final week of September or any dates in October and November since those months are dramatically more busy.

Event Dates:
Sept. 1–3, 6–10, 13–17, 20–24

(formerly $129.99 in 2022)

Frequent Fear: $229.99 + Tax

The Frequent Fear pass includes 30 nights opposed to 18. These event night are spread across the entire season and include every single Sunday - Thursday event, but only includes the first Friday and Saturday of the event. Every other Friday and Saturday is blocked out.

Event Dates:
Sept. 1–3, 6–7, 10, 13–14, 17, 20–21, 24, 27–28

Oct. 1, 4–5, 8, 11–12, 15, 18–19, 22, 25–26, 29, 31

Nov. 1-2

(formerly $179.99 + Tax in 2022)

Frequent Fear Plus: $269.99 + Tax

The Frequent Fear Plus includes 40 event nights opposed to 30 of the previous pass. These nights include every single Sunday - FRIDAY, but it only includes the first AND LAST Saturday of the event. Every other Saturday is blocked out.

Event Dates:
Sept. 1–3, 6–8, 10, 13–15, 17, 20–22, 24, 27–29

Oct. 1, 4–6, 8, 11–13, 15, 18–20, 22, 25-27, 29, 31

Nov. 1-4

(formerly $219.99 + Tax in 2022)

Ultimate Frequent Fear Plus: $374.99 + Tax

And finally, we have the Ultimate Frequent Fear Plus! This ticket includes EVERY SINGLE EVENT NIGHT (no blockout dates). However, this ticket has one extra feature that none of the others do: free parking in CityWalk after 5pm.

Event Dates:
Sept. 1–3, 6–10, 13–17, 20–24, 27–30

Oct. 1, 4–8, 11–15, 18–22, 25–29, 31

Which Halloween Horror Nights Pass Should I Get?

It depends on your situation. We have always felt like the Rush of Fear pass is perfect for anyone who’s on the fence about Halloween Horror Nights, but loves Universal. If you know that you enjoy the park and want to ease yourself into the event, this option is perfect for you. If you fall in love with the event and want to continue to go in October, you can always upgrade your ticket at guest services.

Frequent Fear is the tough one to sell because weekend days are NOT included. If you find that the majority of the days you’ll be free to go are on weekdays, then this ticket is perfect for you. The weekdays are always the slowest anyways; however, this ticket makes it difficult to experience the event with other friends who buy single day tickets because they often can only go on weekends. If not having Friday or Saturday available to you isn’t an issue, then we highly recommend this pass.

The pass that we often get year to year, and the pass we recommended the most to annual passholders, is the Frequent Fear Plus. This ticket is good for every event night except for the majority of Saturdays. However, since Saturdays are the busiest days by far, we tend to avoid visiting on those nights anyways. If you need a ticket with a weekend day other than Sunday available, this is the ticket we would look at. However, with a pass like this, its appropriate to assume that you’d want to go fairly often to the event. The one downside to this ticket, other than not including Saturday, is the parking situation. This is why we recommend it to passholders that already have access to free parking. If you’re planning on going often, but do NOT have access to free parking already, then we would take a look at the next pass tier.

Ultimate Frequent Fear Plus is the granddaddy of all HHN tickets. It’s unrestricted and the absolute scariest, not just because it gives you the most days to the event but also because of how expensive it is. This ticket screams luxury in its price point. However, the biggest benefit of this pass isn’t just its no-blockout-availability, it’s the fact that it includes free parking after 5pm. If you plan on going to the event often but don’t already have access to free parking at Universal, then this is the pass to get. Although it is $100+ more than the previous tier pass, if you visit 4 times or more, this pass will save you money because of the outrageous parking prices. Remember, during Halloween Horror Nights parking doesn't become free until 10pm instead of the standard 6pm like the rest of the year.

One final thing to note: all passes are upgradeable with Express Pass to help alleviate the pain of waiting in long lines. However, pricing varies from pass to pass. Express prices also vary from night to night if you don’t include it in your ticket package upfront. Be sure to check pricing on Universal’s website beforehand.
