The Last of Us is confirmed for Halloween Horror Nights 2023!

Let’s skip to it. IT’S OFFICIAL! The Last of Us has been announced to be coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2023 not only in Orlando, but also in Hollywood. The critically acclaimed video game, turned television show has long been rumored to be in development for Halloween Horror Nights. Many rumors popped up last minute for this property to be included in last year’s event; however, with such a short time table, we speculated that it would instead be destined for the 2023 season. And as predicted, here it is! This is what Universal had to say about The Last of Us arriving to Halloween Horror Nights:

This popular video game franchise has made a large wave in pop culture as of late with creator, Neil Druckmann also leading the charge on the writing of the smash hit HBO series of the same name featuring Pedro Pascal in the leading role. Although the house being featured in this season of Halloween Horror Nights is based on the original video game instead of the HBO show, the live action retelling did follow the visual, thematic, and story of the original creation quite closely. Fans of the show should also become just as immersed in this world as fans of the original source material.

This announcement officially marks the second confirmed house of the 2023 season of HHN. “As a massive fan – and frequent attendee – of Halloween Horror Nights, we are honored to have ‘The Last of Us’ included in this year’s lineup. It has been an incredible thrill for us at Naughty Dog to collaborate with Universal, bringing the world of the game to life, focusing on even the tiniest details that our fans know so well,” Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann said. “Having just celebrated the 10th anniversary of ‘The Last of Us,’ it’s a perfect time for our fans to team up with Joel and Ellie and come face-to-terrifying-face with Clickers, Raiders and much more!”

“We are excited to bring ‘The Last of Us’ to life in a terrifying haunted house that is true to the spirit of this popular video game featuring our heroes, Joel and Ellie, Clickers and more,” said Lora Sauls, Assistant Director, Creative Development and Show Direction at Universal Orlando Resort. “The world inside the game offers a multitude of suspenseful and horrifying opportunities to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience that can only be found at Halloween Horror Nights,” added John Murdy, Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.”
