It’s official! The classic horror icon Michael Myers is returning this year for Halloween Horror Nights both at Universal Orlando and Hollywood. Set to the original movie from 1978, we’ll experience the terrors of the boogeyman face to face. Universal had this to say about the upcoming house:

“Gather your friends and visit Haddonfield, Illinois, where Michael Myers is about to don his mask and embark on his first brutal spree. Silent. Merciless. Relentless. He’s the embodiment of pure evil. You don’t want to go alone as you go back to where it all began. This year, step into the original 1978 horror classic, Halloween.” - Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights

As you may remember from when we originally discussed the first HHN Spec Map for this year, I had shared my honest thoughts on the idea of bringing back Halloween (and the still rumored Evil Dead) yet again to this event. With a lineup of houses that brings a unique flare, I much rather would have seen a house that hasn’t been done before. Especially coming off of an anniversary year where we spent several houses returning to familiar ground, it feels like we’re coming back to the well of ‘Halloween’ one too many times. However, the marketing for this house does bring a unique flavor to the intellectual property. It will be interesting to see what Universal Creative does to freshen up an otherwise stale property. The return of this house will coincide with the third and final installment of the new Halloween series, “Halloween Ends”, expected to release on October 14, 2022.

Jonathan Holt grew up in Central Florida and fell in love with the Theme Parks and creative culture of Orlando at a young age.

“Some of my earliest childhood memories are filled with trips to Disney and Universal with my family. The way the parks transported me to another world where it was okay to laugh and scream directly impacted the way I saw the world growing up. As an adult now, the parks still hold a very special place in my heart. The parks that we love, hold so much magic that they remind us what it’s like to be a kid again. My dream is to build a community that is able to have child-like joy together while talking about and experiencing the parks.”
