Universal Orlando’s New Escape Rooms are Officially Announced! - UPDATED

READ TIME: 3 MINS

The long-time rumored escape rooms at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk are now officially confirmed! In a social media post by Universal Orlando Resort, the theme park destination announced the upcoming attractions, and had this to say about them:

Universal's Great Movie Escape

“Universal’s Great Movie Escape, two extraordinary escape adventures inspired by Jurassic World and Back to the Future, is coming to Universal CityWalk this Fall. Tickets and additional details will be released soon.”

Although we don’t have many details about Universal’s Great Movie Escape, we do know that these heavily themed escape rooms have been designed and created by the same award-winning team behind Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando. Based on two classic Universal franchises, Back to the Future and Jurassic World (a spin off from Jurassic Park), we expect the team to have created an experience that honors and pays tribute to these franchises. Year after year we see extraordinary houses at Halloween Horror Nights that bring classic and beloved franchises to life in an unbelievable and accurate way, and we’re expecting to see the same love and attention to detail in these new escape rooms.

Escape rooms have become a big trend in the United States over the last decade, and it makes so much sense for Universal Orlando to capitalize on that trend. This new offering will help CityWalk stand out from the competition and bring a new, unique experience to the nightlife destination. These escape rooms are taking over The Groove, which was a night club located in CityWalk next to ‘Fat Tuesday’s’ and ‘Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food’’.

Jonathan Holt grew up in Central Florida and fell in love with the Theme Parks and creative culture of Orlando at a young age.

“Some of my earliest childhood memories are filled with trips to Disney and Universal with my family. The way the parks transported me to another world where it was okay to laugh and scream directly impacted the way I saw the world growing up. As an adult now, the parks still hold a very special place in my heart. The parks that we love, hold so much magic that they remind us what it’s like to be a kid again. My dream is to build a community that is able to have child-like joy together while talking about and experiencing the parks.”
